“In Guatemala, the Virus Shows Its Power to Kill Trust”

In the second article of The Tyee series on the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Guatemala, Emi Sasagawa explores the Ministry of Health’s response to COVID-19 and speaks with frontline health workers about their experiences providing health services during a pandemic. Emi’s interview with Claudia Tut - an auxiliary nurse in the community of Chamil, Alta Verapaz - highlights the enormous challenges and personal fears faced by frontline health workers in Guatemala each day.

As COVID-19 cases increase, TulaHealth is working with our partners in the Ministry of Health and regional health authorities to strengthen the digital health system to support health workers and protect them against COVID-19. Look for updates about our continuing work to support frontline health workers in Guatemala in our News section.
