Tula Welcomes the G13 in Guatemala

We would like to thank the health personnel and people of San José Chacayá for welcoming us and the G13 delegation to their community.

On May 20-21, TulaSalud and partners from the Embassy of Canada for Guatemala (@CanEmbGuatemala) joined public health personnel and local community members in welcoming a delegation from the Group of Donors 13 (G13) to a health centre in San José Chacayá, Sololá. The G13 is a group of donors and representatives from multilateral agencies that work with the Government of Guatemala to promote development in Guatemala. In San José Chacayá, TulaSalud proudly joined public health personnel to demonstrate how its digital health system uses innovative technology to better connect more than 4,000 primary health workers to their patients and peers, and strengthen their ability to deliver needed health services to women and children in their communities. G13 delegates watched primary health personnel use smartphone technology to identify, register, and monitor high risk pregnancies and malnourished children. They then had a chance to do it themselves. Since 2016, Tula’s digital health initiative, co-financed by Global Affairs Canada, has enabled more than 500,000 telephone calls to connect front-line community health workers with health services; registered more than 30,000 pregnancy cases to monitor their progression; and, more than 131,000 malnourished children. We would like to thank the health personnel and people of San José Chacayá for welcoming us and the G13 delegation to their community.

Members of the G13 delegation, including the Ambassador of Canada for Guatemala Rita Rudaitis-Renaud, learn how to use smartphones to register and monitor pregnant women and children.
