In January 2013 TulaSalud collaborated in the construction and equipping of a delivery room at the regional hospital in Cobán which incorporated vertical birth (which is the tradition among the indigenous people of Guatemala). In April 2013 the hospital held a workshop to facilitate vertical birth and to train medical and nursing staff in vertical delivery.
Guatemalan President Otto Perez Molina today officially opened the Tula Foundation sponsored birthing center at the regional hospital in Coban. President Perez Molina rightly honored the wonderful work done by our Guatemalan counterpart TulaSalud and their leader Executive Director Isabel Lobos Medina.
