In response to the escalating coronavirus (COVID-19) emergency in Guatemala, TulaHealth and our partners at TulaSalud and the Embassy of Canada to Guatemala worked together to secure critical personal protective equipment (PPE) for frontline health workers in Guatemala. Specifically, in the regions of Alta Verapaz, Quiché, Huehuetenango and Sololá. As COVID-19 spreads into rural communities in Guatemala, there is a risk that routine health services for women and children will be limited. Access to PPE will ensure that frontline health workers are able to continue delivering critical primary health services - including sexual and reproductive and child malnutrition services - in vulnerable rural communities, while minimizing risk of COVID-19 transmission to them and their families.

Providing PPE for frontline health workers is an essential component of TulaHealth’s coordinated and rapid response to COVID-19 in Guatemala, in coordination with TulaSalud and the Ministry of Health. We continue to meet with local health officials to find new innovative strategies to optimize our digital health system to strengthen the capacity of frontline health workers to respond safely to COVID-19 in Guatemala.
